Why do we Worship God?

“You shall worship the Lord, your God, and Him only shall you serve”

How shall we Worship God?

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.  God is Spirit; and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Why do we stand to sing?

“And the levites….Stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with voices loud and high.”

Why do we clap our hands?

“Oh, clap your hands all you peoples! Shout to God with a voice of triumph!”

Why do we lift our hands?

“Thus will I bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.”

“Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.”

Why do we have audible praise unto God?

“Bless the Lord, o my soul; and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name.”

Why do we sing in tongues and in english?

“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.  What is the conclusion then?  I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with understanding also.  I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with understanding.”

Why do we dance before the Lord?

“Praise ye the Lord!  Sing to the Lord a new song, and His praise in the assembly of saints.  Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.  Let them Praise His Name with the dance; let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.”

Why do we pray with laying on of hands and anointing with oil?

“They will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.”

“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”

Why do we have speaking in unknown tongues and the interpretation of tongues in the church?

“Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues.”

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all… to another different kinds of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues.”

Why do we prophesy?

“But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation, and comfort to men.”

Why are musical instruments a part of the worship service?

“Praise him with the sound of the trumpet; praise Him with the flute and harp.  Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; praise Him with the stringed instruments and flutes.  Praise Him with loud cymbals; praise Him with clashing cymbals.”

Why does the whole church pray for specific needs?

“And when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said “Lord, You are God who made the heaven and earth…”

Why do we receive tithes and offerings?

“Bring all the tithes (a tenth) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house and try Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing, that there will not be room enough to receive it.”
